Cast in concrete and resin, Rise and Fall carries the marks of human intervention within an otherwise natural, almost geological surface. Straight lines cut across the exposed aggregate — deliberate, mechanical marks that suggest the traces left behind by human occupation and civilisation.
There is a sense that these marks once belonged to the surface but have since been buried, preserved almost like fossils within layers of material. Amber-gold resin catches the light around them, suggesting the rising and setting of the sun and the passing of time.
