According to the legend of Saint Vincent of Saragossa, a fourth-century Iberian Christian martyr, ravens protected his body from wild animals after his execution, safeguarding it until his followers retrieved it. His remains were taken to Cape St. Vincent in southern Portugal, where a shrine was built over his grave, and flocks of ravens continued to guard the site.
