Ravens have long been associated with myth and legend.

Bran the Blessed, a figure in Welsh mythology, is a guardian deity of Britain associated with wisdom and protection. Symbolized by the raven, he famously ordered his own head be cut off, which continued to speak prophecies. Legend claims his severed head was buried beneath Tower Hill in the Tower of London, with the presence of ravens at the Tower said to echo this myth.
