Cheltenham-born artist Kerry Louise Bennett is a contemporary painter whose richly textured, colour-filled work celebrates the poetry of everyday life. Self-taught and with a background in photography, upholstery, writing and creative design, she brings a storyteller’s eye to familiar domestic objects and interiors, transforming them into vibrant, emotionally resonant paintings.

Working mainly in semi-abstract still life and interior scenes, Bennett draws inspiration from patterned fabrics, treasured vessels, houseplants and the hazy memories of a 1970s childhood. Her distinctive visual language combines bold colour, expressive mark-making, flattened perspectives and richly layered surfaces, with influences from magical realism and a strong sense of rhythm and pattern.

Rather than recording a scene exactly as it appears, Bennett works where memory, emotion and imagination meet. The result is work that feels intimate, playful and quietly theatrical, inviting viewers to rediscover the beauty and character of familiar spaces and everyday rituals. She works from her home studio in Sheffield, and her paintings are held in private collections around the world.
