Caladrius

  • £9,000

Caladrius, according to Roman Mythology, was a snow-white bird that lived in the king's house. It was said to be able to alight upon a sick person and fly away taking any dis-ease into itself, healing both itself and the sick person. It was theorised that the myth was based upon an actual dove or a heron. It was said to represent Christ taking the sickness on himself. Interestingly, this stone has a black mark in the right-hand side of the chest, where Christ was believed to be struck with a spear when he was being crucified.
