Deborah was born in Yorkshire and became a stone sculptor in her middle years. She has won the Ashburner Sculpture Prize (2022), the Sculpture Award and the Visiting Guest Sculpture Award from the Southwest Academy of Fine and Applied Arts in 2020.

Her work has sold to the USA and Europe. Deborah releases what she sees within the stone, by following its grain, form, and colour, until the stone takes on a life of its own. She is a founder member of the Cotswold Sculptors Association.  

Her practice is based at Gloucester City Works where she welcomes commissions and leads carving workshops.
