Graham Williamson
Graham's work comprises of mainly bowls, vessels and lidded forms. He aims to produce pieces of work that are precise and detailed and have strong profiles, which are technically proficient and possess a clear design element. Graham employs a pragmatic and considered approach rather than one which is random and spontaneous. He hopes to create work which is very much contemporary and which is less rooted in tradition. Glazes and slips are applied by spraying and brushing, and sometimes pieces are re-fired to achieve the desired result. He uses a porcelain body which is fired in an electric kiln to 1260 degrees centigrade.
In 2009, after 30 years of living and working in Cardiff as a glaze technician in the ceramics department at Cardiff College of Art, Graham retired and moved to Gloucestershire and established his own workshop where he is now making on a full time basis.
In 2019 Graham became a selected member of the Craft Potters Association.
