This still life was painted in memory of Louise's father who sadly passed away in 2016. One of Louise's many regrets is that she didn't paint a portrait of him as he was just before he passed. She chose to paint these glasses, not only because she viewed them as an integral part of his personality, but they still had his DNA, finger prints, his skin cells, the scuffs and scratches from daily wear and tear. This in fact is a portrait.
